Our Sisters have been experiencing so many new things this semester including travel and fun in the snowy weather!

The original name of Alpha delta Pi was the "Adelphean Society." The word " Adelphean" is derived from the Greek word meaning sister. It was founded on May 15, 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, Ella Pierce Turner, Octavia Andrew Rush, Mary Evans Glass, Sophronia Woodruff Dews, and Elizabeth Williams Mitchell. We hold the distinction of being the first secret society in the world for college women. The Adelphean Society flourished through the years and in 1904 the members voted to become national and in 1905 changed their name to Alpha Delta Phi. In 1913 it was changed to Alpha Delta Pi because of continued confusion with a men's fraternity of the same name. These women paved the way for all other sororities and millions of other sorority women across the world. Alpha Delta Pi
Eta LambdaChapter
In the fall of 1986, Alpha Delta Pi's Grand President, Mrs. Jane Maddio, came to Albright College to review a group of sophomore girls applying to be a new chapter. The luncheon went so well, Mrs. Maddio set an induction date for December 9th. During the January interim session, Alpha Delta Pi held two informal rush parties and were surprised at the great turn out. During the first week of the spring semester Alpha Delta Pi held two mandatory rush parties and gave out bids to seventeen freshman ladies. On February 5, 1987, the women were officially inducted as pledges. Eta Lambda initiated its first group of pledges and officially became a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi on May 9, 1987. Since then, Eta Lambda has contributed so much, not only their community, but also with frequent trips to the Hershey and Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses and to the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation. Sisters of Eta Lambda can be found in a variety of clubs and activities on campus, including POPS, ASTEP, Club Vogue, AC^2, Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, The Albrightian, Agon, Domino Players, Student Council, Resident Assistants, Order of Omega, Albright College Swim Team, Albright College Rugby, Academic Learning Center Peer Tutors, Writing Center Peer Tutors and so much more! If you run into a member of Eta Lambda on campus make sure to introduce yourself, we would love to get to know you!

From Our Sisters
Eta Lambda is my home away from home, and it's so comforting to have such a great support system no matter what. Adpi is my family, and I couldn't imagine my life without my amazing sisters.

Alpha Delta Pi is my home away from home. These strong women are my support system and the people that I can always turn to if I need something. We are always there to support one another. Adpi has given me so many new friends and experiences that I would not trade for anything.

To me, ADPi means home. It means I have a group of girls that are there for me no matter what. I know I can always trust them and count on them. They've never let me down and have been so amazing through the hardest of times

Our Philanthropy: Ronald McDonald House Charities
All of the Alpha Delta Pi sisters are extremely generous and thoughtful, which is why we enjoy helping others at the Ronald McDonald House. Each sister is responsible for visiting the Ronald McDonald house in Philadelphia or Hershey, PA and while we are there we perform tasks that help the families. Along with our visits, we host events at Albright College to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
In the Fall semester, we raise money through an event called “Rock-A-Thon”. For 72 consecutive hours, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi take turns rocking in chairs to raise money. We also host many other fundraisers, such as the Tabbie Wars. During the Spring semester, different organizations on campus try to collect the most tabbies and items that are on the Ronald McDonald House wish list. Throughout the year we also donate glossy print magazines, and gather items from the Ronald McDonald House Wish list.
